Thursday (9/13): I started to edit the 1664 edition of Faustus. I printed the TAPAS version of the document and the pdf version, and made it up to Chapter V, making notes of changes that needed to be made. I’m not sure who worked on which part, and it’s largely irrelevant since the class is over, but some of the parts I’ve worked on so far were very poorly done. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to teach this section in a more effective way. I remember when I was TAing, we told the students multiple times to give a partner their encoded text to check for errors, but that clearly wasn’t enough. I don’t know if there’s any way around it, but I’d be curious to do a little research on it.
