Historical documentation and textual witnesses show that Christopher Marlowe was baptized on February 26, 1564 in Canterbury, later he wrote poetry and plays during his student days at Cambridge University before becoming a popular London playwright alongside the likes of Thomas Kyd and William Shakespeare. But controversy surrounds the circumstances of his death on May 30, 1593. Subsequently, many conspiracy theories have arisen including arguments that Marlowe was murdered, that his death was faked, and even that he was “really” William Shakespeare.
